Nalbandian presents Yerevan’s stand on Karabakh resolution to his British counterpart

On July 13, within the framework of official visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Edward Nalbandian met with the Foreign Secretary William Hague and Minister of State for Europe David Lidington.

Before the meeting Nalbandian and Lidington signed an agreement between governments of Armenia and UK on Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Tax Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income and on Property.

The agenda of talks included issues of Armenian-British relations, as well as a wide range of regional and international problems. Head of Armenian Foreign Ministry discussed with British counterparts details of political dialogue development, enhancement of bilateral cooperation, including cooperation within international organizations, as well as methods of business ties and cultural exchange promotion.

The ministers touched upon Armenia-European Union cooperation. Mr. Hague welcomed enhancement of Armenia-EU cooperation.

In the context of regional problems and conflicts Mr.Nalbandian presented Armenia’s stand in the issue of Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement and expressed hope that in case Azerbaijan demonstrates political will and constructivity a resolution may be reached.

Mr. Lidington expressed UK’s readiness to assist in talks through OSCE MG mediation and stressed necessity to strengthen trustfulness measures and pointed to unacceptability of military settlement of the conflict, according to Armenia’s MFA press service.
