ARMENIAN CITIZEN BECAME A VICTIM OF A TERRORIST ACT IN "AMBASSADOR" HOTEL IN SOFIA
16.11.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. There was an explosion Wednesday evening in "Ambassador" hotel in Sofia, Bulgaria, as a result of which two persons were killed.
RIA News Agency, quoting some sources in the law-enforcement bodies of Bulgaria, informed that one of the killed is a 34-year-old Armenian citizen. According to the investigation data, it was in his room where the explosion took place. The investigators think that the detonated explosive wasn't placed in the room on purpose, but was planned for realizing a terrorist act in another place.
The minister of internal affairs of Bulgaria Emanuel Jordanov named the happened a terrorist act. He said the police is working now on three versions, but he didn't specify which ones exactly.
Jordanov informed that the two victims of the explosion are identified. It is assumed that one of the killed is a foreigner. However, the police hasn't yet informed any foreign embassy in Sofia about the victim. This will be done after the final examination, Minister Jordanov noted. -0-
