Armenia, Greece promote cooperation within Eastern Partnership frames

On July 19, political consultations between heads of Foreign Ministries departments of Armenia and Greece were held in Armenia’s Foreign Ministry, according to RA MFA press service.

Consultations from the Armenian party were conducted by head of EU division Armen Liloyan, from the Greek party by Director of the Department for CIS states, Ambassador Karlos Gadis.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues regarding bilateral cooperation and evaluated the level of Armenian-Greek political dialogue as positive. In this context, the parties addressed the visit of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to Greece in Jan. 2011, which boosted and added content to bilateral relations.

The parties also discussed development of trade-economic ties and exchanges views on enhancement of those ties. With this regard, collocutors emphasized importance of conducting the next sitting of Armenian-Greek intergovernmental commission.

Armenian party presented Armenia-EU cooperation process. Agreement was reached on further steps in promotion of Armenian-Greek cooperation within the framework of Eastern Partnership. Touching upon Karabakh conflict settlement, the Greek party expressed its sympathy with OSCE Minsk Group efforts, directed at resolution of the conflict.
