Safrastyan: Turkey has no time to improve relations with Armenia

Turkey did not change its policy regarding Armenia, and presently it has no time to settle relations with Yerevan, since Erdogan’s government is more concerned about Middle East, according to Ruben Safrastyan , Director of the Oriental Studies Institute at Armenian National Academy of Sciences.

“Turkey is involved in events going on in Arab countries, namely Syria, and is acting against authorities of these countries,” Safrastyan told a press conference.

“Moreover, it is important for Turkey to solve Cyprus issue. It wants to become a member of European Union, occupying a part of state-member of this structure. The Turkish government tries to solve the Cyprus problem without EU, in the frames of UN. If the problem is transmitted to the UN, there Turkey will be supported by its allies U.S., England, whereas in EU Greece and Cyprus will oppose Turkey,” turkologist said.
