Iranian expert advises Tehran against involvement in Karabakh settlement

Iranian expert Bahram Amirahmadian believes Iran must not become involved in Karabakh settlement.According to the expert, conflict settlement implies winning and losing sides. “However, Iran has positive developing relations with both countries, which is why Tehran should avoid mediation activities leaving them to international structures,” Iran.ru quoted him as saying.

Iran is ready to become mediator in Karabakh settlement any time, according to Ambassador of Iran to Azerbaijan Mahammad Bagir Bahrami.

Bahrami expressed his country’s stand over the conflict and noted that if Armenia and Azerbaijan agree Iran will become mediator in peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. “Iran which is a neighboring country both for Azerbaijan and for Armenia supports peaceful settlement of the conflict and, therefore, is committed to the pacific resolution and establishment of stability in the region,” the Ambassador said.

Bahrami thinks that only countries of the region must be engaged in the settlement of Karabakh conflict.

“West is not interested in resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. It is only interested in Azerbaijan’s energy capacities. Countries beyond the region give deceitful promises to Armenia and Azerbaijan,” said the Ambassador.
