Yerevan will host Polish-Armenian painter Teodor Axentowicz’ exhibit

Armenia and Poland aim to expand cooperation in cultural sector, with a number of activities planned for this purpose.

As Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski stated at joint news conference with his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan, an exhibition of Polish-Armenian painter Teodor Axentowicz will be organised in Yerevan.

The Polish President emphasized the role of Diaspora artists in contributing to Armenian culture, noting that Axentowicz always stressed his ties with Armenia.

Teodor Axentowicz (1859 – 1938) was a Polish-Armenian painter and university professor. A renowned artist of his times, he was also the rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. As an artist, Axentowicz was famous for his portraits and subtle scenes of Hutsul life, set in the Carpathians.
