Armenian team coach says 2014 World Cup Group B not among the strongest

According to the results of Rio de Janeiro-hosted 2014 FIFA World Cup draw, Armenian team will face Italy, Denmark, Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Malta in Group B.

As the head coach of the Armenian team Vardan Minasyan noted in a conversation with a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, Group B teams are not the strongest ones in the championship.

“The group is not weak either. It’s similar to EURO 2012 qualifier groups we’re rivaling at present,” Minasyan remarked.

53 nations were drawn in the UEFA qualifiers for the tournament. A total of nine groups were drawn, eight consisting of six teams and one containing five. One nation was drawn from each pot to make up the groups, with each team then playing each other twice. The winners of each group will progress to play in Brazil, with the eight best runners-up going into a play-off round. Qualification for World Cup 2014 gets underway on September 7, 2012, with the group stages due to conclude on October 15, 2013.
