Armenian authorities and the opposition decide to meet twice a week

Procedural issues for further talks were discussed at today’s meeting between working groups in the framework of authorities-oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC) dialogue, head of coalitional group David Harutyunyan told journalists.

It was decided to meet twice a week, on Tuesday and Friday, and the issue of pre-term Presidential and Parliamentary elections, pushed forward by ANC, will be first discussed at the negotiations, according to Harutyunyan.

The head of coalitional group stressed that ANC will have to motivate necessity of conducting pre-term elections in the country.

In turn, head of ANC working group Levon Zurabyan told journalists that they offered the authorities to meet on a daily format, considering the importance of the process, however the representatives of ruling coalition counter-offered to meet twice a week and they agreed.

During July 26 meeting of working groups in the framework of dialogue between representatives of authorities and oppositional Armenian National Congress the agenda of dialogue was adopted, which includes two issues; first, pre-term Presidential and Parliamentary elections; and second, the issue of drafting canons for ensuring political competition.
