RPA member: ANC strives to power to send Armenia bankrupt

Discussing snap elections in coalition-opposition dialogue framework is pointless, the head of Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) parliamentary group believes.

“However, the authorities are ready to discuss the issue with the Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc,” Galust Sahakyan told a news conference in Yerevan.

“RPA will be the first to benefit from pre-term elections, which will again result in the Party’s victory,” the parliamentarian said. “With Armenia’s budget growing, ANC’s strive to power is easily explained by a wish to rob it, sending the country bankrupt,” he added.

The 1st opposition-coalition meeting took place on July 18. During the 2nd meeting, future negotiations’ 2-clause agenda was adopted, with ANC demanding snap elections, while the coalition suggested discussing rules for political competition. The 3rd meeting held August 4 focused on procedural issues for future negotiations.
