Every school student in Artsakh to have own laptop

New Education Strategy kicks off in Stepanakert, Nagorno Karabakh, in September 2011, with a goal to improve the local education system.

Each 1-4 grade student will be given a XO laptop in the framework One Laptop per Child (OLPC) program, FruitFull Armenia reported.

The XO is a potent learning tool designed and built especially for children in developing countries. It’s about the size of a small textbook. It has built-in wireless and a unique screen that is readable under direct sunlight for children who go to school outdoors.

The government of Artsakh pledged to supply all schools in the republic with internet access.

The first stage of the program, which is implemented under the aegis of the NKR government and the Armenian General Benevolent Union, envisages a training course for 160 teachers. During the next stage, 3600 school students will be provided with laptops.
