Wings of Tatev aerial tramway not to function Aug. 30 – Sept. 15

The reasons of malfunction of Wings of Tatev aerial tramway in Syunik province of Armenia were weather conditions.

According to aerial tramway director Tigran Ghazaryan, it will not be functioning from August 30 to September 15, which accounts for passing from summer to autumn regime. Within that period, the electrical and mechanical systems will be equipped for climate changes.

Since January 1, Wings of Tatev has transported more than 15 thousand passengers, including inhabitants of the neighboring communities, transportation of whom was free of charge.

The aerial tramway was officially launched on October 16, 2010. The event was attended by hundreds of guests and top officials of the country, marking the start of a $45-million project of the National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia titled Revival of Tatev.

Two-way journey costs AMD 3 thousand. One-way ticket costs AMD 2 thousand.

The aerial tramway spans 5,7 km, the highest point is 330 meters. It takes 11 min from the village Halidzor to the famous medieval Tatev monastery. Wings of Tatev was granted certificate from the Guinness book of Records officially verifying the status of the longest reversible aerial tramway. -mi-
