Movsesian, Polgar tie game at World Chess Cup

Armenian grandmaster Sergei Movsesian tied a game against Judit Polgar in the second round of World Chess Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, on August 31. The return game is scheduled for September 1.

In the first round, Movsesian defeated China’s Hou Yifan 2:0.

The World Chess Cup kicked off with participation of 128 players and USD1.6 million prize fund. The knockout event is a part of the next world championship cycle for which top three will qualify from here. Two games are to be played in each round and in the tie-event. Games in rapid, blitz and Armageddon will also be played to determine the winner.
