Azerbaijan accuses WikiLeaks of stirring discord between world leaders

The recent WikiLeaks reports concerning Azerbaijan are lie and slander, the Azerbaijani authorities believe.

“Referring to the U.S. diplomats, WikiLeaks is spreading groundless information aimed at creating tensions in relations between different states in the region,” Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Social and Political Department Chief Ali Hasanov said.

“We have repeatedly refuted such reports. In particular, there have been reports directed at deteriorating relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey, targeting to provide false information about the leaders of Azerbaijan and Turkey, the Azerbaijani-Russian and Azerbaijani-Iranian relations and directed to spoiling the relations. We have repeatedly refuted such information and denied it. It is a lie, concocted and specifically spread information. And today we are committed to this view,” Trend News quoted Hasanov as saying.

“Aliyev made clear his distaste for the Erdogan government in Turkey, underscoring the “naivete” of their foreign policy and the failure of their initiatives,” one of the cables earlier released by WikiLeaks whistle blowing website said.
