Iranian, Russian top security officials meet in Yekaterinburg

Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Secretary Saeed Jalili met with his Russian counterpart Nikolai Patrushev on Wednesday, September 21.

According to Fars News Agency, during the meeting in Yekaterinburg, the two sides discussed bilateral ties and exchanged views over other issues of mutual interest.

The security officials also agreed on the endorsement of a protocol on cooperation between the two countries' security councils.

Jalili and Patrushev further discussed cooperation on bilateral, regional and international grounds, specially in strategic issues and in confrontation against common threats.

The two sides further underlined the need for regular meetings to continue talks and consultations.

This was the second meeting between the Iranian and Russian top security officials over the past two months. Jalili arrived in Russia on September 19 to participate at a two-day meeting of security council secretaries from 60 world countries , which commenced in Yekaterinburg on Wednesday.
