Kurdish partisans attacked the military post in the south-east of Turkey in the region of Pervari.

Associated press reports that five Turkish servicemen were killed as a result. Three partisans were also killed, according to Turkish media reports.

Turkey’s General Staff offically announced on Septemeber 21, that during the operation on the Mount Kandil from August 17, Turkey’s Armed Forces destroyed 152 objects of Kurdish rebels, Sabah daily reports. According to the statement, blows were delivered to Kurdish posts and arsenal. Air blows were resumed after August 17 attack in the South-east of Turkey, which killed 9 Turkish militaries. These were Turkey’s first blows to the North of Iraq within a year. Turkey’s conflict with PKK, claiming establishment of independent Kurdish republic has been underway for about 25 years, and has resulted in more than 40 thousand deaths. PKK is recognized by the UN and EC as terroristic organization.

The rebels had earlier threatened Turkish government with armed resistance, if steps towards resolving the long-lasting conflict were not taken.
