RPA member says no reason for Serzh Sargsyan to resign

Current President Serzh Sargsyan is not planning to resign; nor are there any political, economic or social reasons for him to do so, according to a member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).

As Mkrtich Minasyan told a news conference in Yerevan, commenting on opposition demand for pre-term parliamentary election, “organizing snap election 6 month before the regular one is at odds with logic.”

“The authorities have a political will and readiness to resolve current problems in the country through a dialogue,” the RPA member stressed.

On September 23, ANC urged those present at Yerevan-hosted opposition rally to prepare for civil disobedience march. As ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrossian announced, more frequent rallies are to follow, with ANC posing new demands to authorities.
