Armenian opposition reports no clashes with police overnight

One of the top figures in the Armenian National Congress opposition bloc, Haykakan Zhamanak daily editor-in-chief Nikol Pashinyan said no clashes between police officers and opposition supporters took place overnight.

As a PanARMENIAN.Net correspondent reported from the ground, the police just warned that the ongoing sit-down strike and the rally to follow at 3 pm on October 1 is not authorized.

Pashinyan said only one police car remained in Liberty Square at night, what the ANC supporters viewed as a means of public order maintenance. According to him, 1500 people remained in the square overnight, although witnesses estimate the number at 200-300.

Pashinyan says much depends on the number of people to gather for the further rallies. The ANC is also clarifying there police blocks provincial roads to Yerevan.

Presently, there are about 20 tents in Liberty Square.
