Armenian National Congress activist, Haykakan Zhamanak editor-in-chief Nikol Pashinyan has kicked off the regular opposition rally at Liberty Square in Yerevan on October 1.

Addressing the crowd, he said that no incidents occurred during the night and the rain caused the only inconvenience. He also noted that people should not be surprised over the fact that police blocked the roads towards Yerevan. “Did you expect Serzh Sargsyan call a taxi to bring you here?” he said.

Urging people to make a choice between the sofa in their homes and Liberty Square, Pashinyan said that extraordinary elections have already begun.

He also complained that the authorities invented a new method of struggle, closing all nearby cafes and public toilets.
