Armenian political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan rules out recurrence of Russian scenario in Armenia, with ex-president Kocharian returning to politics like Putin did.

As the expert told a news conference in Yerevan, “with his influence, current Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin leaves Robert Kocharian far behind. While Kocharian has no decision power, the return of Putin was only a matter of the latter’s choice.”

As the expert noted, he sees no unity in the Republican Party of Armenia, the latter being, rather, a gathering point for the ruling elite. Opposite to common views, the expert spoke against Prosperous Armenia’s being called Kocharian’s party, as the latter isn’t the party’s formal leader.

According to Iskandaryan, similarity in positions of current Prosperous Armenia leader Gagik Tsarukyan and Kocharian may depend on specific political situation.
