On October 13, Krakow hosted a draw for the UEFA EURO 2012 play-offs.

UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino, conducted the draw alongside former Poland forward and tournament ambassador Zbigniew Boniek.

Turkey will face off against Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Portugal will also be renewing ties after the Portuguese won a play-off between the sides for the 2010 FIFA World Cup 2-0 on aggregate. The two teams in contention with no previous play-off experience, Estonia and Montenegro, drew the Republic of Ireland and the Czech Republic respectively, UEFA official website reported.

On Oct 11, 26 minutes into Armenia vs. Ireland EURO 2012 qualifier match, referee Iturralde Gonzalez handed a red card to Armenian goalkeeper Berezovsky, asserting the latter sprinted from goal to save the Ireland striker's shot outside the box with hands. An experienced goalie substituted by a 20-year-old, referee decision determined the outcome of the game, with Armenia losing 2:1 to Ireland.
