TOO EARLY YET TO SPEAK OF THE BREAKDOWN OF "UNITY" BLOC, THINKS GAGIK ASLANIAN, VICE SPEAKER OF THE ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT
16.08.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The latest events in the political life of Armenia have ended up with "Unity" bloc being in a rather shaky position today, stated in the interview to the Parliamentarian paper "Hayastani Hanrapetutiun" Gagik Aslanian, the Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia and the representative of the People's Party of Armenia.
In the formed situation it is necessary to unite all the political forces of the country, said Aslanian, adding that it is early yet to speak of the breakdown of "Unity" faction. "I feel sorry that the leadership of the Republican Party doesn't share this opinion", noted Aslanian.
Speaking of the possible redistribution of forces in the National Assembly of Armenia and about the role of the People's Party in that process, Mr. Aslanian noted that the People's Party of Armenia doesn't have any wish to "burn the bridges with any of the political forces, especially with the Republican Party, as we gained people's trust as a bloc and carry a responsibility for that". -0-
