Armenian NPP to be put through stress test in Apr 2012

In April 2012, a stress test will be held at Armenian Nuclear Power Plant with the assistance of EU, according to Armenian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources.

As Armen Movsisyan stated at Republican Party of Armenia (RPA)-hosted economic conference, the decision was prompted by Fukusima nuclear disaster in Japan. “Work is in progress to boost the NPP safety and eliminate shortcomings discovered, with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) having positively assessed the security level at the plant,” the Minister said.

Dwelling on construction of a new reactor, the Minister said that the search for foreign investors continues.
