Davit Harutyunyan rumored to become Armenian parliament speaker

According to unverified information, head of the Armenian delegation to PACE Davit Harutyunyan may be appointed as parliament speaker to replace Hovik Abrahamyan, who resigned on November 1 to head the election headquarters of the Republican Party of Armenia.

Deputy speaker, member of Prosperous Armenia party Samvel Nikoyan is also rumored as a possible candidate to the post.

Besides, on November 1, Deputy Defense Minister Vladimir Gasparyan replaced Alik Sargsyan at the post of Armenian police chief after the latter was relieved of his duties and appointed as advisor to the President.
