ANC member links Hovik Abrahamyan’s resignation to Karabakh issue

Parliament speaker Hovik Abrahamyan’s resignation is linked to President Serzh Sargsyan’s intention to make unilateral concessions in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement process, according to Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc member.

As Gurgen Yeghiazaryan told a press conference on November 8, President Sargsyan “strengthens his rear in the face of serious problems including Karabakh issue.”

On November 1, Armenian parliament speaker Hovik Abrahamyan announced his resignation to head RPA electoral headquarters and more effectively conduct the campaign. Abrahamyan will officially resign at November 14 parliamentary sitting.

On November 3, by the decree of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, the first deputy chief of presidential staff Mikael Minasyan was dismissed to take a post at RPA election headquarters.
