Syunik governor faces criminal case on businesswoman beating charges

Special Investigation Service of Armenia instigated a criminal case against Syunik province governor Suren Khachatryan on suspicion of beating up businesswoman Silva Hambardzumyan.

As press secretary of Armenia’s Prosecutor General Sona Truzyan told PanARMENIAN.Net, the case is instigated in compliance with art 118 of Criminal Code, stipulating for a fine of 100 minimal salaries or up to 2 months of imprisonment.

As Truzyan noted, Hambardzumyan’s refusal to undergo forensic exam citing absence of bodily injuries saved the governor from more severe punishment.

As reported earlier, Syunik governor’s press service denies the information above.
