Armenian oppositionist confident of transparent elections in 2012

A deputy chairman of Free Democrats opposition party believes Armenia will have to conduct transparent 2012 parliamentary elections in attempt to fulfill its obligations to Europe.

Anush Sedrakyan noted participation of powerful political forces like Prosperous Armenia and Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc in parliamentary race as another factor to prove her point.

According to Ms. Sedrakyan, to prepare for oncoming election, Free Democrats, listing 3 thous. members, are forming the party’s territorial structures.

“The party remains undecided as to running for parliament jointly with other political forces. Still, Free Democrats’ views are close to those adhered to by Heritage opposition party,” Ms. Sedrakyan said.
