The European Union continues to seek a peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict through the support of OSCE Minsk Group, the spokesperson for the European Foreign Policy Service Maya Kotsyanchich said.

The diplomatic service commented on the recent report on the initiative of the European Parliament to replace the French co-chair of the Minsk Group with the representative of the entire European Union. Information on past debates in the European Parliament was spread by Bulgarian MP Christian Vigenin.

According to Kotsyanchich, the EU perceives its role in Karabakh settlement as a supplement to OSCE Minsk Group.

The first project with a budget of two million euros is being completed, with a possibility to commence a similar one in the future.

"EU has repeatedly expressed readiness to support the reconstruction and rehabilitation of regions affected by the conflict after a peace treaty is reached," Kotsyanchich said.

Kotsyanchich confirmed the unacceptability of the current status quo in Nagorno Karabakh conflict and pledged EU's commitment to peace in the South Caucasus region, 1news.az reported.
