Serzh Sargsyan: Armenia hopes to build new routes to Georgia's marine ports

Armenia hopes for formation of new highways to Georgia's marine ports in the framework of new infrastructure projects, Armenian President stated.

As Serzh Sargsyan said at a joint briefing with President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili in Tbilisi, “construction of a new North-South highway will link Yerevan to Batumi, boosting trade turnover between the two countries. With at least 20% of all goods delivered to Armenia through Georgia, we are interested in finding new ways to be linked to Georgia's marine ports," he said.

President Sargsyan expressed hope that the road construction will be completed in to further promote Armenia’s economic development.

The President also expressed interest in furthering cooperation in synchronisation of electricity supply networks.

The President noted Armenia-Georgia trade turnover to have reached 20% in 2011. “Although highly satisfactory, the result has room for improvement. We must put our cooperation potential to its best use,” the President stressed, Trend News reported.
