Google celebrates Mark Twain’s birthday with doodle

Google is celebrating the 176th birth anniversary of Mark Twain, the prominent American author, with a colorful Google Doodle.

The doodle is based on a scene from Twain’s best known novel, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. In the sequence, the boys are painting a white picket fence with the Google logo in the center.

Clicking on the painting takes users to search results about the famed author.

Mark Twain was born on November 30, 1835 in Florida as Samuel Langhorne Clemens. His best-known novels, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (pub. 1876) and its sequel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (pub. 1885).

Twain's work embodied a rich sense of humor and sharp social commentary on life along the Mississippi river in the years before the Civil War broke out.
