Taron Margaryan: deputy mayor replacement not discussed

A possible replacement of the deputy mayor is not on the agenda, according to new Mayor of Yerevan.

During a December 1 conversation with Yerevan citizens, Taron Margaryan, however, refused to provide any information on possible acceptance of new staff to Yerevan city administration.

The Mayor further heard out the citizens’ requests on residential issues and accepted a letter of petition.

Taron Margaryan, the only designate of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), was unanimously elected as the Mayor of Yerevan on November 15.

“The RPA executive body and political council as well as the party’s representative group at the city council decided to nominate Taron Margaryan to the post of the Mayor of Yerevan,” RPA member Derenik Dumanyan said prior to the election.

Former Mayor Karen Karapetyan resigned on October 28.
