Muslim Brotherhood to come to power in case of Assad fall - expert

Any power in Syria, except Alevis and Bashar al-Assad, will represent the rule of Muslim Brotherhood, according to oriental studies expert.

As Suren Manukyan told a news conference in Yerevan, any power vacuum will be filled with Muslim Brotherhood, there being no other political alternative in Syria.

Dwelling on Bashar al-Assad’s chances to retain power, the expert said that were it not for external support, the authorities would have long succeeded in suppressing the riots, almost threatening to grow into a civil war.

In this context, the expert pointed out the pressure al-Assad regime is being subjected to and the aid extended to Syrian opposition by the U.S., Turkey, Europe and the Arab states of the Persian Gulf.

“Syria will find it hard to resist further, were the pressure to continue,” Manukyan remarked, also reminding of Russia and China’s support for al-Assad.
