Moreno beats Darchinyan

Using his height and reach advantage with effectiveness, WBA Super World bantamweight champion Anselmo Moreno (32-1-1, 11 KO’s) won a fairly wide 12 round unanimous decision over 35-year-old Vic Darchinyan (37-3-1, 27 KO’s) on Saturday, December 3 night on the undercard of the Abner Mares vs. Joseph Agbeko II rematch at the Honda Center in in Anaheim, California.

The final judges’ scores were 116-111, 117-110 and 120-107, all for Moreno.

Darchinyan lost a point in the 4th round due to roughing the tall and slender Moreno up and tossing him to the canvas. But Darchinyan was never able to close this distance effectively against the southpaw Moreno, who boxed him like a matador and had no problems staying out of the way of Darchinyan’s telegraphed power shots, boxingnews24.com reports.

Darchinyan has now lost two out of his last four fights.
