Another failed negotiation between Turks and Cypriots

The latest meeting between Cyprus President Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu on Monday was not productive, UN Secretary General’s Special Adviser on Cyprus Alexander Downer has said.

In statements to the press after the meeting which lasted approximately one and a half hours, Downer said that the two leaders “spent time focusing their discussion on the issue of property."

“I think it’s fair to say the meeting was a fairly unsuccessful one," he said. "There was no progress made in terms of these discussions."

“I will be meeting with the two leaders during the course of this week and officials from the United Nations will also be meeting with the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot officials as we work on some of these issues and see what progress they can make over the next week or so," Downer added, according to FG.
