No fair parliamentary election in Armenia to be expected - expert

Oncoming parliamentary election in Armenia will be as rigged as ever, according to a governance expert.

As Harutyun Mesrobyan told a news conference in Yerevan, “in our country, the form and substance were never matched, with actual electoral procedures to have nothing in common with the government’s pledge to organize fair elections.”

“To repair the situation, Armenia must follow Britain’s suit in creation of alternative centers, with every party having its own shadow cabinets. That would greatly promote formation of the government of professionals,” the expert said, quoting Sardarapat opposition movement’s initiating an alternative parliament as an example.
