Armenian GM wins European Blitz Chess Championship 2011

Armenian grandmaster Hrant Melkumyan proved best of the 370 chess players gathered in Warsaw, Poland, for European Blitz Chess Championship 2011.

Before the final round, Melkumyan and Radoslav Wojtaszek (Poland) shared the first place with 19 points each.

The grandmasters ended the decisive game in draw, letting another three players gain on them with 20 points. By additional results, Melkumyan was declared champion of Europe, followed by Russia’s Alexei Dreev and Radoslav Wojtaszek.

The competitions continue tomorrow with the European Rapid Chess Championship 2011.
