Kolkata concert features Armenian folk songs

Compositions of Béla Bartók and Bach were performed at St John’s church in Kolkata, India.

The program also featured a dance performance and solo pianists as well as the Kolkata Music Academy Chamber Orchestra comprising only strings.

Four Armenian folk songs, sung by the Tadevosyan Family Trio sans accompaniment, were indeed a revelation. The soundscape the Trio created instantly transported the listener to a medieval Armenian apostolic monastery somewhere in the Caucasus, The Telegraph India reports.
