During discussion of 2012 state budget at Turkish parliament, one of the MPs unexpectedly recalled massacres organized by Turkish authorities, Turkish media reports say.
A member of pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Sırrı Sakık addressed the parliament saying that carnage and destruction had long been inculcated in Turkish public.
“Only 33 years ago, in 1978, thousands of Alevis were massacred in Marash; whereas, 1915 saw the Armenian slaughter, followed by Jewish and Kurdish massacre,” he reportedly said.
Asked to end the speech, Sakık noted that “Turkey should revisit its history.”
