Kazakh leader calls for sooner formation of CSTO peacekeeping forces

Under the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), new tools for resolving core security issues should be designed, according to Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

“Measures should be taken to enable taking a timely decision in a critical situation,” Kazakh media quoted Nazarbayev as saying.

Kazakh President stressed the need to accelerate formation of CSTO collective peacemaking forces with an aim to assist conflict settlement in various regions of the world under UN mandate.

President Nazarbayev further underscored the need to intensify CSTO analytical activity regarding studying military-political situation, as well as strategic planning of its short-term and long-term development.

“Determination of collective security tools should be in focus of the organization,” Nazarbayev stated.
