EURO 2012 host Ukraine to launch Hyundai high-speed trains

Hyundai high-speed trains, which were named “Ukrainian Express”, will be launched to unite EURO 2012 host-cities in the middle of May, 2012, according to Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Infrastructure, Boris Kolesnikov.

“High-speed trains that can accelerate to 180 kilometers per hour will unite four Ukrainian EURO 2012 host cities. Their launch is scheduled on May 15,” the official, responsible for Ukraine’s preparation for the tournament said.

New high-speed trains will facilitate and considerably accelerate the fans’ transportation between Kyiv, Kharkov, Donetsk and Lviv, host-cities of the upcoming European championship. For example, distance between Lviv and Donetsk will reduce to 11 hours (currently 22), Kyiv and Kharkov will be covered in 3.5 hours, Kyiv-Lviv – in 4.5 hours and Kyiv-Donetsk – in 5.5 hours.

Hyundai trains, which will unite the Ukrainian cities by railway, will be presented in South Korea in late December. Ukrainian railway has ordered ten trains that consist of nine coaches; however, only six will be delivered in February or March, 2012 to be launched in the middle of May, euro-2012news.com
