Democratic Fatherland leader critical of Armenia's ruling coalition future

A representative of Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc, Democratic Fatherland party leader is highly critical of the future of Armenia's ruling coalition.

“Dashnaktsutyun left the coalition, Orinats Yerkir has long been a "political corpse", with Prosperous Armenia trying hard to break away from Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) chains,” Petros Makeyan stated during a discussion on 2012 political agenda.

Still, Makeyan did not rule out for Prosperous Armenia to be “pulling an Artur Baghdasaryan” in an attempt to garner some opposition votes.

RPA parliamentary group secretary Gagik Melikyan however, stressed that coalition parties are acting in accordance with the memorandum. “No political force has tired to renounce their obligations as proved by their last statements,” the MP said.

At 2008 presidential elections, Orinats Yerkir opposition party leader Artur Baghdasaryan, 3rd for the number of votes gained, supported the ruling party candidate Serzh Sargsyan, stirring major public discontent as well as rumours of a conspiracy with the authorities.
