ANC deems 2011 as the most effective year

2011 was the most active and effective year for Armenian National Congress (ANC), with over 22 nationwide events held, according to the opposition bloc’s coordinator.

Levon Zurabyan noted that ANC “managed to restore the right to freedom of assembly, including at Liberty Square, publicly presenting political and legal bases for President Serzh Sargsyan’s and parliament’s illegitimacy.”

Among the positive results ANC showed throughout the year, Zurabyan also noted amnesty and release of “political detainees”.

Congress coordinator further stressed ANC success to force the authorities into establishing political dialogue with the opposition, pinning the blame on authorities for the failure of the process.

In this context, Zurabyan noted “ANC inability to form legitimate power in 2011” as the biggest failure of the Congress.
