Russian political expert forecasts new conflicts in Caucasus

The director of Russia-based Political Sociology Institute believes the outgoing year brought no changes to Nagorno Karabakh issue.

According to Viacheslav Smirnov, world powers are using Karakakh settlement talks in pursuit of their own goals, with no major changes expected in the years to come, 1news.az reported.

Sceptical over the possibility of positive shifts in the next decade, the expert forecasted new regional conflicts. “The upcoming year may prove complicated in terms of regional situation,” the expert said.
