Armenian opposition says upcoming elections will be rigged

Convinced that upcoming Parliamentary elections in Armenia, scheduled for May 2012 will be rigged, Oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC) member invited people to gather at Liberty square of Yerevan on the following day.

According to Hrant Bagratyan, the authorities have no other way but stealing the elections, otherwise ANC will win at least 40-45 percent of votes.

Bagratyan said the repetition of 2008 March events is highly unlikely given the different circumstances. Asked why ANC is determined to go for elections, being confident of the fraud, the statesman said ANC still discusses the point.

Bagratyan’s personal opinion is ANC should participate in the elections, otherwise they will not be rigged.
