Richard Mallié urges Turkey to apologize for Armenian Genocide

A French parliamentarian urged Turkish authorities to apologize for 1915 Armenian Genocide at the hands of the Ottoman Empire.

As Richard Mallié stressed during a debate of a bill penalizing Genocide denial, “many countries apologized for crimes they perpetrated. I urge to finally show justice to Armenian people.”

National Assembly member Pascale Crozon in turn, characterized the bill debated as a demonstration of France's struggle against racism and distortion of historical truth.

Today, December 22, the French parliament is debating the bill, which envisages a year in jail and a fine of 45,000 euros for those who publicly deny the Armenian Genocide in France.
