France’s parliamentarians are holding heated debates for a bill penalizing Armenian Genocide denial. Among the most debated points are clauses envisaging imprisonment for denial of genocides recognized by France.

Some parliamentarians supported a more general definition, encompassing all the genocides perpetrated. However, the alterations to clause described were not adopted.

When voting for the necessity of prison sentence for Genocide denial, French Politician Henri Jibrayel delivered an emotional speech, describing the ordeals genocide survivors had to go through.

With the voting for alterations to the draft law completed, an adoption vote was launched.
