GMP standard to be introduced at Armenian pharmaceutical companies

By January 2013, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standard will be introduced at all Armenian pharmaceutical companies, to be followed by an application to a relevant panel of the EU to recognize the process.

As the head of the staff to Armenian Health Ministry Suren Krmoyan told a news conference in Yerevan, “the initiative will promote competitiveness of Armenia-manufactured products at foreign markets.”

According to the official, the government of Armenia adopted a number of initiatives to boost the country’s business climate and stimulate local production, also facilitating a number of bureaucratic procedures.

The head of Medicine Producers and Importers Union (MPI Union) of Armenia Samvel Zakaryan, in turn, characterised the sector as a key priority on GOA agenda, with relevant legislative alterations launched to provide compliance with international standards.
