Ahmadinejad sees no impediments in development of ties with Armenia

On December 23, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan met with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is currently in Armenia on an official visit.

“Your visit is a unique opportunity to give fresh impetus to our relations,” PM Sargsyan said, favoring Armenia-Iran bilateral ties.

Discussion of priority trends in bilateral economic relations was on the meeting agenda.

The two men, further focused on details regarding joint hydropower plant construction on River Arax, Iran-Armenia third electricity transmission line, liquid fuel storage in Armenia, oil pipeline and Armenia-Iran railway construction.

The parties also stressed the importance of developing cooperation in agriculture, tourism, jewelry and pharmaceutical sectors.

Iranian President, in turn, underscored the need to instruct relevant agencies regarding expansion of trade and economic cooperation, seeing no impediments in bilateral ties.
