Azerbaijan bans NATO's AWACS planes from its airspace

Azerbaijan didn’t allow NATO's Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircrafts to fly over the country’s air space, governmental sources stated.

According to the report, NATO has recently addressed Azerbaijan and Georgia to request the use of their airspaces during the flight of AWACS planes to Afghanistan. Though Georgia officially allowed it, Azerbaijan didn’t allow the AWACS aircrafts to pass through its air space.

“Azerbaijan allowed cargo flights to Afghanistan through its air space. But it is impossible to allow AWACS aircrafts the latters being used for military intelligence”, APA quoted the source as saying.
