Education World Forum kicks off in London

“Learning from the Best for a World of Change” is the theme of the Education World Forum taking place in London from January 9-11, 2012, at which UNESCO’s Director-General Irina Bokova will give a keynote address and present the ICT Competency Framework for Teachers.

Close to sixty education ministers are confirmed to participate in this annual global summit, which will examine where rapid progress is taking place in education and showcase effective education policies and strategies that are driving success.

In her address on January 10, the Director-General will stress the need for ‘fit to size’ solutions: “Progress is more than a question of money. We need to match capacity with needs, skills with the world of work. We must make the most of innovation,” UNESCO official website reported.

At the invitation of UK Minister for Universities and Science David Willetts and British MP Michael Gove, on January 9 Armenian Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan left for London on a three-day visit to participate in the event.

Rector of Yerevan State Medical University Derenik Dumanyan will also participate.
