Muslim Brotherhood gets most seats

Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party bloc came first in the party list vote for the first parliamentary elections since the ouster of Hosni Mubarak, winning 127 of 332 seats, the elections commission head, Abdel Moez Ibrahim said.

The Salafist Nour party bloc won 96 seats, while the secular Wafd party came third with 36 seats and the Egyptian Bloc obtained 33 seats, he said.

The rest of the 498 elected seats were contested by individual candidates not on party lists, Bloomberg reported.
